Questions
What is the difference between a VPS and a VDS?
A VPS is a virtual server with a reserved share of a physical machine: its cores, memory and storage are yours, but other virtual servers run on the same machine. A Virtual Dedicated Server is single-tenant, so nothing else runs on the machine and all of its usable resources are yours. Both come with root access, and we manage the server underneath on both. A VDS costs more because you are paying for the whole machine.
When should I move from shared hosting to a VPS?
When one of three things is true. Your site hits its plan’s CPU or memory limit often enough that pages slow down at busy times. You need software a shared platform can’t install, such as a specific runtime, a queue worker or a background service. Or an application or an auditor requires root access. If none of those apply, a larger Shared Web Hosting plan is usually cheaper and simpler.
Is a Cloud Server managed, or do I run it myself?
Both. We manage the hardware, the network and the virtualization layer, plus Core Managed: OS-level security patching, Imunify360 threat protection, CloudLinux setup, and cPanel/WHM or Plesk installation, updates and maintenance. Inside the server, root is yours. Application-level monitoring and management is Server Administration, from $199/mo.
Can I move up to a Virtual Dedicated Server later?
Yes. Within the VPS range it is a plan change. Moving to a Virtual Dedicated Server is a real move between machines, so our engineers plan it with you and schedule it around your traffic. Ask what that move costs on your account before you commit.
Which control panel do I get?
cPanel/WHM or Plesk, whichever you prefer. It’s the browser dashboard for your sites, email and databases, so you don’t have to touch a command line. It is free on both products, with root SSH access from day one.
How does billing work, and how do I cancel?
Both products are billed monthly with no setup fee. To cancel, give us 7 days’ notice before your renewal date in the client portal. The 30-day money-back guarantee covers Shared Web Hosting and Managed WordPress Hosting, not VPS or Virtual Dedicated Servers.
Where are the servers?
In Tampa, Florida, on hardware Blue Arctic buys, racks and runs. Tampa is the only location, so if your visitors are on another continent and milliseconds matter, tell us early. The power, network and storage detail is on the infrastructure page.
