How to Transfer Account Ownership
Ownership of a Blue Arctic account can only change with Blue Arctic's written consent. As the current owner, open a support ticket from the account, give the new owner's name and contact details, and our team tells you both what it needs.
On this page
If you’ve sold your business or are handing a website to someone else, you can ask us to move your Blue Arctic account to them. Our service agreement says an account can’t be transferred without Blue Arctic’s written consent. So every ownership change starts with a support ticket from the current owner.
Note
Changing the name, email address and card on the account yourself doesn’t transfer ownership. Use the steps below so the change is recorded properly.
Before you start
Warning
Once the transfer is complete, the new owner controls the services, and you can’t undo it yourself.
- Decide what the new owner takes. If you only want to hand over some services, such as one website, say which ones in your ticket, and our team will tell you whether that’s possible.
- Agree a handover date with the new owner.
- Save any invoices you need for your records. Open each one in the Client Portal and use your browser’s print command; choose the PDF option to keep a file.
- Save a copy of anything else you want to keep, such as your website files (see how to download a backup) or important emails.
Step 1: Ask us to transfer ownership
Warning
Don’t put passwords or card numbers in the ticket, and don’t share your own login with the new owner.
- Sign in to the Client Portal at my.bluearctic.com as the current account owner.
- Start a new support ticket (see how to open a support ticket).
- Say that you want to transfer ownership, and which services and domains are included.
- Give the new owner’s name and contact details. Our team will ask for anything else it needs.
- Ask us to remove your card at the handover, so you aren’t charged for the new owner’s renewals.
- Ask what happens to any unpaid invoices or credit on the account, and who pays the next renewal.
- Send the ticket.
Step 2: Agree the transfer
Reply in the ticket. Our team tells you what it needs from you and from the new owner before Blue Arctic gives its written consent.
Step 3: Settle your billing
- Pay any invoices that you agreed in the ticket to pay.
- Before the next renewal, check that your card is no longer on the account. If it’s still in your saved payment methods, ask in the ticket for it to be removed.
Step 4: The new owner takes over
- When our team says the transfer is done, the new owner goes to my.bluearctic.com and clicks Forgot? on the sign-in page.
- They type their own email address in Email Address and click Submit.
- They open the reset email and set a password that only they know.
- They check their name and address. See how to update your account details.
- They add their own card. See how to manage payment methods.
How to tell it worked
The new owner can sign in with their own password and see the services. New invoices for those services go to them, and your card isn’t charged for them.
Troubleshooting
- The owner has left the business or can’t be reached: open a support ticket and explain. Our team will tell you what proof it needs before anything changes.
- The new owner can’t sign in: they should click Forgot? and use the email address they gave for the transfer. If that doesn’t work, they can email support@bluearctic.com from that address.
- The domain is registered with another company: hosting and domain ownership are separate. Ask that company to change the domain’s owner (registrant) details to the new owner.
- The domain was bought through Blue Arctic: say so in your ticket.
Still need help?
Open a support ticket from the Client Portal at my.bluearctic.com. Include the email address on the account, the services to transfer, the new owner’s name and email address, and any error text. Never put a password or card number in a ticket.
