Add your Blue Arctic mailbox to the Mail app on your iPhone or iPad as an IMAP account, so your mail stays in sync everywhere.

Note

These steps are for Blue Arctic Shared Web Hosting mailboxes, which use cPanel. Managed WordPress Hosting doesn’t include email. On a VPS, open a support ticket if you’re not sure how your email is set up.

Before you start: get your settings

  1. Log in to cPanel. If you can’t log in, open a support ticket.
  2. In the cPanel sidebar, click Email.
  3. Find the address in the list, and click Manage in its row.
  4. On the Overview tab, click Open Webmail. Webmail opens in a new browser tab.
  5. If your inbox opens instead of the Webmail home page, click cPanel Webmail Home.
  6. In the Set up email on your device panel, click Automatically configure my device. The Set Up Mail Client page opens.
  7. Keep the Secure SSL/TLS Settings section (marked Recommended) open. You’ll copy the servers and ports from it.

If you see an Email Accounts icon instead, click it, then click Connect Devices next to the address. Or type the tool’s name in cPanel’s search box (Ctrl+K or Cmd+K). If you can’t find it, open a support ticket.

The ports are usually 993 for incoming mail (IMAP) and 465 for outgoing mail (SMTP). Use exactly what Set Up Mail Client shows. SSL/TLS encrypts the connection, so nobody can read your password on the way.

Add your email account

  1. Open Settings, then tap Apps.
  2. Tap Mail, then tap Mail Accounts.
  3. Tap Add Account.
  4. Enter your email address, then tap Next.
  5. Tap Add Other Account, then tap Mail Account.
  6. Enter your name (the name people see), your email address, your mailbox password and a description such as “Work email”.
  7. Tap Next. If Mail finds your settings, tap Done and go to “How to tell it worked”.
  8. If Mail asks for more details, choose IMAP.
  9. Under Incoming Mail Server, enter the incoming server from Set Up Mail Client, your full email address as the user name, and your password.
  10. Under Outgoing Mail Server, enter the outgoing server, your full email address as the user name, and your password. Fill these in even if the screen says they’re optional.
  11. Tap Next.
  12. Tap Save. If Mail says a setting is wrong, compare it with Set Up Mail Client and try again.

If sending or receiving fails: check the settings

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts and tap your account.
  2. Check that the incoming and outgoing server names match Set Up Mail Client exactly, and that both use your full email address and password.
  3. In the account’s advanced settings, and in the outgoing server’s settings, check that SSL is on and that the port matches Set Up Mail Client.
  4. If you can’t find these settings, open a support ticket with screenshots of each screen. Hide the password first.

How to tell it worked

  1. Send a test message from the new account to another address you own, and check that it arrives.
  2. Reply to it, and check that the reply arrives on your iPhone or iPad.

Troubleshooting

  • A warning that the server’s identity can’t be checked: don’t trust or continue. Change the server name to exactly what Set Up Mail Client shows.
  • Mail offers to continue without a secure connection (SSL): don’t accept. Check the server names and ports instead.
  • Account verification fails, or Mail keeps asking for the password: check that the user name is your full email address. If you’re not sure of the password, set a new one. Warning: every other device that uses this address stops connecting until you enter the new password there too. In cPanel, click Email, click Manage in the address’s row, and open the Settings tab. Click Change Password, enter the new password, and click Update Password. (With an Email Accounts icon: Manage, New Password, Update Email Settings.)
  • Receiving works but sending fails: the outgoing server is missing its user name and password, or uses the wrong port. Check both against Set Up Mail Client. If it fails on one network only, that network may block the port: try another network, or open a support ticket. See what to check when you can’t send email.

If the account was added as POP

If folders such as Sent look wrong, or mail is missing on your other devices, remove the account and add it again with IMAP.

Warning

Removing the account deletes mail that’s stored only on this device, and our daily backups don’t include email. First check in Webmail that your messages are still on the server (see how to check your email in Webmail). If they aren’t, don’t remove the account: open a support ticket first.

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts.
  2. Tap the account, then tap Delete Account.
  3. Add it again with the steps above, and choose IMAP.
