How to Check Your Email in Webmail
In cPanel, click Email, click Manage next to the address, then click Open Webmail. Webmail opens in a new browser tab, where you can read and send mail. No cPanel access? Ask whoever manages your hosting for your Webmail address.
Applies to: cPanel Blue Arctic Shared Web Hosting email (cPanel). Managed WordPress Hosting doesn't include email.
On this page
Webmail lets you read and send email in any web browser, with nothing to install. It’s handy on a borrowed computer, and it’s the quickest way to tell whether a problem is with your mailbox or with the app on your phone or computer.
Note
These steps are for Blue Arctic Shared Web Hosting mailboxes, which use cPanel. Managed WordPress Hosting doesn’t include email. On a VPS, open a support ticket if you’re not sure how your email is set up.
Open Webmail from cPanel
- Log in to cPanel. If you can’t log in, open a support ticket.
- In the cPanel sidebar, click Email.
- Find the address in the list, and click Manage in its row.
- On the Overview tab, click Open Webmail. Webmail opens in a new browser tab.
- If nothing seems to happen, look for the new tab, or for a message that your browser blocked a pop-up.
- If the Webmail home page opens first, click Open in the Open your inbox section.
If you see an Email Accounts icon instead, click it, then click Check Email next to the address. Or type the tool’s name in cPanel’s search box (Ctrl+K or Cmd+K). If you can’t find it, open a support ticket.
Tip
On the Webmail home page, tick Open my inbox when I log in to go straight to your inbox next time.
If you don’t have cPanel access
For example, you’re a staff member who only has an email address and its password. Ask the person who manages your hosting account for your Webmail address, or ask them to open a support ticket for it. When you sign in there:
- Check that the page opens without a security warning. If you see one, don’t type your password.
- Enter your full email address, for example
you@yourdomain.com. - Enter the password for that mailbox. It isn’t a cPanel or Client Portal password.
Read and send mail
Your inbox lists your messages. Use the compose button to write a new one. Webmail reads mail straight from the server, so what you see here matches every device that uses IMAP.
Tip
Can’t find a message? Look in the Junk or Spam folder. Your phone may not show that folder.
Note
On a shared computer, log out and close the browser when you’re done.
How to tell it worked
- Check that your inbox opens and shows your recent mail.
- Send a test message to an address you own somewhere else, and check that it arrives.
- Reply to it, and check that the reply arrives in Webmail.
If your domain’s email is still delivered somewhere else (for example, while you’re moving to Blue Arctic), the reply won’t arrive here until that changes. See what to do when you can’t receive email.
Troubleshooting
- The sign-in fails: use the full email address, not just the part before the @, and check that Caps Lock is off. No cPanel access? Ask whoever manages your hosting to set a new password. If you’re not sure of the password, set a new one. Warning: every other device that uses this address stops connecting until you enter the new password there too. In cPanel, click Email, click Manage in the address’s row, and open the Settings tab. Click Change Password, enter the new password, and click Update Password. (With an Email Accounts icon: Manage, New Password, Update Email Settings.)
- Your browser shows a security warning: don’t continue and don’t type your password. Open Webmail from cPanel instead (Manage, then Open Webmail), and open a support ticket so we can check the certificate.
- The page won’t load: some office, hotel and public networks block the connection Webmail uses. Try another network, such as your phone’s mobile data. Then check our status page.
- The page stopped loading after several wrong passwords: don’t keep trying. Open a support ticket and tell us roughly when it happened.
- Open Webmail doesn’t work, or asks you to sign in again: open a support ticket so we can check the mailbox.
- The mailbox is full: see how to fix a full mailbox.
Still need help?
Open a support ticket from the Client Portal at my.bluearctic.com (see our support page). Include your domain, the email address, how you opened Webmail, the exact error text, a screenshot, and what you already tried. Never include a password.
